Have you heard of the Calgary Stampede? The Stampede is an annual event held the 2nd week of July in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This event is comprised of one of the largest outdoor rodeo's anywhere in the world, combined with a large outdoor fair and expo.
Every year hundreds of thousands of visitors travel from across the world to visit the Calgary Stampede in Calgary. I have attended every year of my life.
The week long Calgary Stampede begins with a large Stampede Parade through the streets of downtown Calgary. Each morning there are dozens of places where you can go and get an authentic Stampede pancake breakfast, in many cases completely for free. These free pancake breakfasts are a Stampede tradition. Every night, they close the fair with a beautiful fireworks display.
Throughout the week there are many free entertainment venues available. The Calgary Stampede hosts concerts from some of the leading entertainers in the world. This is part of the reason that celebrities flock to the Calgary Stampede each year too.
